Oxlade-Chamberlain: Unacceptable Arsenal must stand up and fight
Arsenal’s superstars are weathering one of their most brutal storms of recent times, but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain admits he does not think things are going to get any easier soon.
The north London outfit went down to their fourth defeat in five games on Saturday, Craig Dawson’s double the difference in a 3-1 loss at mid-table West Brom.
Arsene Wenger is under some of the most immense pressure of his 21-year Arsenal tenure, while the Gunners players have been criticised by the club’s fans from all sides for a lack of fighting spirit.
But Oxlade-Chamberlain insists a battling mentality is the only thing that can pull his side out of the mire, and called on his teammates to get up for the challenge.
“[The West Brom loss] is not what we needed,” he said. “We knew we needed three points and we need as many points as we can get, especially in these games.
“We’re bitterly disappointed and all I can say is we’re sorry to the fans because that’s not acceptable for Arsenal Football Club to lose the way we did.
“We’ve just got to try to get over this now and focus. We’ve got to keep fighting because it’s not been pretty for us recently and I’m sure it’s not going to get any easier anytime soon.
“We’ve just got to try and fight our way out of this.”
