Beckham: Alli and Kane are exciting for England
Childhood Spurs fan David Beckham has paid tribute to PFA Young Player of the Year Dele Alli, after the former England captain was presented with the PFA Merit award.
Alli received the Young Player award for the second year in a row at Sunday evening’s ceremony, while Harry Kane was also praised by Beckham for his contribution to a flourishing young Spurs team.
Tottenham may have been dumped out of the FA Cup by Chelsea on Saturday, but have recently closed the gap on their London rivals to just four points in the Premier League table.
And with both Danny Rose and Kyle Walker also turning out for England under Gareth Southgate, Beckham hopes that a strong Spurs will mean a strong national side.
“I specifically look at the young players coming through with England and you look at these players and Harry Kane, an exceptional young player, Dele Alli, an exceptional young player also,” said Beckham.

“When you see these players and I’m going to speak about Dele because you see him as a player and you see a certain arrogance he plays with – that’s a positive thing because he’s not an arrogant person, he’s a great guy and to see the way he plays on the field, you have to have that arrogance, big players have that.
“When you have someone like that playing for England, when you’ve got Harry playing for England, when you’ve got Danny Rose, Kyle Walker and you see these guys coming through, that’s exciting.”
