Benteke takes glory in grit after Eagles beat Blues

Christian Benteke revelled in doing the dirty work as Crystal Palace snapped Chelsea’s 13-game unbeaten home run – according to the man himself.

The big Belgian grabbed the winner just two minutes after Wilfried Zaha had equalised Cesc Fabregas’ fifth-minute opener.

It was backs to the wall from that point on but Benteke claims his side enjoyed the gritty nature of their win – which made it four in a row in the Premier League and lifted them four points clear of the drop zone.

“It is a massive win for all of us and throughout from Wayne to me we all put in the dirty work that you have to do and got the victory,” said Benteke.

“We have to keep going because we have two more games coming up over the next week but the team are really confident and we need to show that and keep this run going.

“You can see the confidence of the team is high at the moment and we are managing to transfer that into our game on the pitch.

“We work hard for each other and with this win making it four in a row we can be happy but we have to keep going because there is still a long way to go.”
