Carroll optimistic Swans can beat the drop

Tom Carroll is confident that Swansea have the ability to beat the drop after ending a run of six Premier League games without a win.

Carroll scored the second goal as the Swans beat Stoke City 2-0 but with Hull beating Watford by the same scoreline, Paul Clement’s men remain in the relegation zone.

The Swans are two points behind Hull with four games still to play, two of which are at home but their only remaining opponents in the bottom half of the league are Sunderland.

“Hull won but they are still in touching distance and there is still a lot to play for,” Carroll said.

“We know the home games are really important for us and with fans like these you really don’t want to let them down. We know how much the club means to them and the area.

“It was a massive result. We hadn’t been good enough in the previous five or six games, but we responded well in front of our fans, who were absolutely fantastic.

“That performance and result has come at the right time for us. It felt like a cup final atmosphere, and we responded in the right way.

“The challenge for us now is to keep repeating that performance and result in the final four games.”
