Dyche baffled by Clarets poor away form

Burnley manager Sean Dyche admits he is still bemused at the Clarets’ dire away record, which has seen them go winless in their 17 away games this season.

Their defeat at Everton last weekend means they have just two matches on the road against Crystal Palace and Bournemouth to avoid becoming the seventh team in Premier League history to go winless away from home for an entire season.

Despite their dismal record, Dyche is still baffled by their lack of results having performed admirably on several occasions away from home.

“It’s a head-scratcher still, when you think of the times we’ve had away from home particularly, to put one to bed,” said Dyche.

“Close on Saturday (against Everton), but the league table doesn’t change much.

“With that kind of performance, I think that’s got to win you a game away from home at some point.

“One day, all the deflections and the rest of it have to happen for you. But you want to work for your luck, you don’t want to rely on it, and we certainly don’t.”

“I thought we were still going at 3-1 down, still trying to force the issue and find those golden moments.

“It was early season, we didn’t earn the right to win games away from home, whereas the last seven, eight or so, there’s a couple where we’ve scratched our head and couldn’t believe we hadn’t won.”
