Maguire: Hull have momentum in survival race
Hull City may have suffered a blow to their survival hopes with defeat at Stoke City on Saturday, but Harry Maguire says they still left the bet365 Stadium with a spring in their step.
The Tigers sit 17th in the table, two points clear of 18th-placed Swansea City with just five games of the season to go – and it is increasingly likely that the final relegation spot will be one of those two.
Saturday’s 3-1 loss at Stoke was far from an ideal result for Hull, but Maguire and his teammates were boosted by news that Swansea had lost 1-0 at Watford.

And Maguire says that has given them extra momentum ahead of their own clash with the Hornets at the KCOM Stadium on Saturday.
“Staying out of the bottom three was huge,” said Maguire.
“It is good for morale and confidence. We went in the changing room, saw Swansea had lost (1-0 at Watford) and it does give you that lift.
“If they had won to put us back in the bottom three, our mood would have been a lot more negative.
“So, Swansea losing was a positive but the key now is getting three points off Watford at home. That is a huge game for us now.”
