We must bounce back from defeat, says Palace’s Puncheon

Jason Puncheon has called for an immediate response from his Crystal Palace side after their first loss in five games in midweek.

The Eagles were downed 3-1 at Southampton on Wednesday, with late strikes from Maya Yoshida and James Ward-Prowse halting the south Londoners’ four-game winning streak.

Palace are three points above the Premier League relegation zone and host Arsenal on Monday night.

And Puncheon, who has skippered Sam Allardyce’s side in recent weeks, wants the Eagles to get a positive result against Arsene Wenger’s men when the sides face off at Selhurst Park.

“Now we must dust ourselves down and get ready for the next game against Arsenal on Monday evening,” said Puncheon.

“I don’t think we will be putting a required points target on ourselves but just have to believe what we are capable of doing and achieving.

“We had a great run going into [the Southampton] game and I know the group is capable of producing that form again but now the important thing is to lift ourselves up again for these final eight games of the season.

“We are reliant on everyone and in this game showed the quality we have from an attacking point of view and scored a very good goal.

“We are going to need everyone to chip in with goals as we work hard as a team to get us through to our target.”
