Puel hails Saints midfield duo
Midfield pair Jordy Clasie and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg were picked out for special praise by Southampton boss Claude Puel after they both returned to the side this weekend.
The Saints beat West Brom 1-0 thanks to Clasie’s 25th minute strike with the outside of his boot which sailed into the top corner.
The three points keeps Southampton inside the top half of the Premier League table and reduced the gap between them and the Baggies to just four points.

And Puel highlighted his two returning midfielders, in to replace the injured Steven Davis and suspended Oriol Romeu, as their hard work on the training field paid off at the Hawthorns.
“I am happy for Jordy, because like Pierre, he produced a fantastic game,” said Puel.
“It’s difficult without a lot of game time to have trust, to play, and to produce on the pitch this quality.
“It is well deserved for them, because they have stayed the whole time with the good spirit and good attitude, and they have worked strongly in the training sessions and we saw this on the pitch.
“It’s a good reward for them and the team.”
