Pulis sticks behind goal-shy West Bromwich Albion
Tony Pulis sees no reason to castigate his West Bromwich Albion players for their recent profligacy.
The misfiring Baggies have failed to fine the net in their last five Premier League matches, a run that has seen them pick up just a sole point, which came courtesy of a goalless draw at Manchester United on April 1.
On Saturday, Jamie Vardy’s goal condemned West Brom to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Leicester City – their fourth loss in succession – but Pulis took heart in the number of opportunities his team created and is confident that they will rediscover their shooting boots sooner rather than later.
“Of course that’s disappointing but I would be more concerned if we were not making chances and getting into good positions,” said the Hawthorns chief.
“The fact is we’ve had 16 attempts again, including some really good openings, without finding the target.
“I cannot fault these players or how brilliantly they’ve done and I’m not going to start criticising them now. They’ve given it everything and they continue to give it everything.
“There’s no lack of effort – no-one’s taking it easy.
“We’ve got four games left and we’re still determined to hit that 50-point mark. We’ve not given up on anything yet.”
