Shakespeare desperate for Foxes to bounce back

Craig Shakespeare urged his Leicester City side to quickly forget their late defeat at Arsenal on Wednesday as they prepare to face Midlands rivals West Brom on Saturday.

A late Robert Huth own goal gifted the Gunners victory in a poor match at the Emirates Stadium, which gives the north London side hope of a top-four finish.

Now out of the Champions League and guaranteed to stay in the Premier League next season, there is little for defending champions Leicester to play for from now until the end of the campaign.

But Shakespeare was gutted by the way they lost at Arsenal, insisting they deserved far more than what they left with.

“My analysis is we defended really resiliently for 85 minutes,” said Shakespeare. “We had to against a very good side in Arsenal. We had to put blocks in and when we had to defend we defended.

“We would have liked to have attacked a bit more but to lose in the manner we did was very disappointing.

“Obviously, it was a deflected shot. Yes, of course when you are losing and you know you are running out of time you throw caution to the wind. We did but it wasn’t to be.

“Robert had to be outstanding tonight because of the quality he was up against. But it was a cruel deflection because the shot wasn’t even on target. It happened so quickly and he couldn’t get out of the way.

“We have to recover quickly from this because we knew we had two tough away games and we have another one now on Saturday.”
