Watford’s Hull City defeat ‘angers’ boss Mazzarri
Walter Mazzarri raged at his Watford side for taking Hull City too lightly.
Despite playing with a man advantage for well over an hour following Tigers striker Oumar Niasse’s dismissal for a challenge on M’Baye Niang, Mazzarri’s men contrived to slip to a disappointing 2-0 defeat.
Lazar Markovic finished off a stirring Hull counter-attack to open the scoring and Sam Clucas’ stunner rounded off a dismal day for Watford – skipper Troy Deeney took it upon himself to apologise to his team’s travelling fans after the final whistle.

Meanwhile, Mazzarri believed that his players’ performance was wholly unacceptable.
“We made silly mistakes and it was one of those games where if we didn’t win, we should have at least drawn, and that makes me really angry,” said the Watford manager.
“We need to improve up front and we should have at least scored one or two goals. When you make so many mistakes, I knew the first counter-attack; we would pay for it.
“We underestimated the danger. The first counter-attack; they just attacked with pace.
“We did well before the first goal and we were in good possession. We just needed to score, but we didn’t.
“They [Hull] were very, very good and were really concentrated. It was hard to play against and they have been doing really well at home.”
