Cech and Arsenal will fight until the bitter end

Petr Cech has been a key cog in Arsenal’s return to form at the end of the season but the goalkeeper knows his work is not done yet.

The Czech stopper has kept back-to-back clean sheets in victories over Manchester United and Southampton to put the Gunners firmly back in position for a top-four finish.

On Wednesday night, goals from Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud downed the Saints to lift Arsene Wenger’s side to fifth in the table – three points behind Manchester City and four behind Liverpool, although they have a game in hand on the latter.

And the former Chelsea keeper admits he and his teammates must not let up in their final three games of the season to secure a top-four finish for the 20th season in a row.

“Of course I’m happy to contribute,” Cech said. “When you keep a clean sheet, it’s been very difficult for them to break us.

“When you have that feeling that one goal will do it, you play with more confidence.

“I think it will give us a hope, because if we keep the pressure on the other teams, maybe they will have an unlucky game or drop points somewhere.

“We need to make sure we are ready to take advantage of that.

“We concentrate on our games. We go game-by-game and we have to win all of them to give ourselves a chance. Then we will see what happens.”
