Davies: Spurs squad believe Trippier is a top player
Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies has heaped praise on in-form team-mate Kieran Trippier after his superb performance in the north London derby.
Spurs beat rivals Arsenal 2-0 to maintain pressure on Premier League leaders Chelsea and Welsh international Davies believes Tripper, who is vying with Kyle Walker at right-back, has stood out in club colours.
Trippier has featured in six of Spurs’ last seven – three of them being starts – including their FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea last month.
And Davies believes his efforts neutralising Arsenal talisman Alexis Sanchez were particularly notable and insists the whole squad believe he is a class act.
“I think he’s been excellent, there’s a lot of full-backs in this league who’ve had a tough time against Alexis Sanchez and on Sunday I thought Trips marked him out of the game,” said Davies.
“Those performances are only good for the club and it’s fantastic when you’ve got two quality right-backs in this team that are pushing each other week in, week out.
“As players, we’ve got every faith in him. We think he’s a top, top player and if he comes into the side or whoever the manager picks to start, it doesn’t make a difference to the way we expect to play.”
