Dier wants progress as Spurs say goodbye to The Lane

After finishing their life at White Hart Lane with a win over Manchester United, Spurs’ Eric Dier is determined to maintain their momentum when they switch to Wembley next season.

The 2-1 win ensured Spurs played out an unbeaten home season for just the fourth time in their history, and the first since the 1964-65 season.

Mauricio Pochettino and his men will decamp to Wembley next season as The Lane is demolished to make way for the construction of their new stadium.

And with their record at the national stadium not currently sparkling, Dier is out to go one better than their second-place finish in this season’s table.

“It’s been a really good season,” he said. “Obviously we’re all disappointed not to finish first, but it’s an improvement on last season and now we have to make sure we keep going and hopefully next season, you never know.”

But for now, Dier is keen to reflect on his time at The Lane under Pochettino’s guidance, and make sure their season ends on a high following Sunday’s win.

“It’s fantastic to share this moment with the fans,” he added. “We’ve had a fantastic time here under this manager and all the history before it as well, so it’s fantastic we can enjoy this all together with all the legends as well.”
