Foxes’ Lawrence ready for Premier League opportunity

Tom Lawrence deserves to play Premier League football, according to Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy, even if parent club Leicester City could be set to sell him.

Lawrence has been a standout for Ipswich on loan this season, and the Welsh international is desperate to make his mark in the top flight, having joined Leicester three years ago.

And after scoring 11 goals and providing a further 11 assists, Lawrence is more than good enough to make it at the top level according to McCarthy.

“I think Tom will have his heart set on the Premier League and I think he will get that,” he said.

“If Leicester are going to sell him, there would be a lot of takers.

“Tom has been brilliant, we’ve all loved him, everybody has really appreciated what he’s done, but I think he’s got his heart set on Premier League football – and why wouldn’t he? We’ve got no chance.”

For Lawrence next season remains something of an unknown, and he admits anything could happen over the summer.
“I’ve got a long summer ahead and we’ll see what happens,” he said.

“There’s a possibility of many different things, but I don’t know my future yet, I’ve got a lot of discussions to have.”
