‘Griezmann to Manchester United? Ask Ed Woodward’ – Mourinho
Jose Mourinho insists he has cast Manchester United’s potential move for Antoine Griezmann to the back of his mind.
United have long been heavily linked with a bid for the Atletico Madrid’s star, with their victory in the UEFA Cup final last week and subsequent qualification for next season’s Champions League thought to strengthen their chances of landing the French ace.
However, Mourinho says that now his team’s campaign is complete, he is keen to switch off from football and has left executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to look after the club’s transfer business.
“I have no idea if Antoine Griezmann will come to United,” said Mourinho.
“Ask Ed Woodward. He knows since March who I want, what I want and how much I want.
“Now is time for him to work. It’s for him to work because he has holidays in August and in August I’m working.
“I don’t care about football for a month.
“I’m really happy with our season, the [EFL Cup and Europa League] trophies, to be back in Champions League, but now I have a rest, to disconnect completely and enjoy my family and friends and other sports I like.”
