Lloris: Spurs players feel guilty after devastating West Ham defeat

Hugo Lloris has revealed the whole Spurs squad feels guilty after losing to bitter London rivals West Ham United, a result which all but ended their title hopes.

A second half Manuel Lanzini strike condemned the north London side to just their fourth defeat of the season and means Chelsea could clinch the Premier League crown before Tottenham kick another ball.

And following their devastating loss, the Spurs captain admitted his side did not have the right energy levels during the match at the London Stadium.

The 30-year-old said: “We feel guilty. I’m not really pleased with the way we played this game.

“We didn’t put in the right energy, especially because of the context – it’s a derby and even more because it was a game which was very important in the title race.”

Mauricio Pochettino’s side were left frustrated as they failed to carve out a goalscoring opportunity after going 1-0 down with 25 minutes to go.

“It was not enough. Even at 0-0, everything was possible. But it was not enough from us,” the French stopper claimed.

“We should have increased our level, but we didn’t do it.”

Antonio Conte’s side will face Middlesbrough on Monday night at Stamford Bridge before travelling to the Hawthorns to play West Brom next Friday knowing two victories will secure Chelsea’s second title in three seasons.
