Manchester United boss Mourinho looking to land his shopping list – and fast

Jose Mourinho is ready to splash the cash this summer, buoyed by the buzz of winning the Europa League.

Mourinho has been playing a long game with his transfer targets, handing chief executive Ed Woodward an extensive and triaged shopping list in March.

Antoine Griezmann remains target number one as he looks to follow in the path of compatriot Paul Pogba.

But Atletico Madrid’s president Enrique Cerezo insists his man who going nowhere, despite reports of United waving a £90 million cheque under his nose.

“Griezmann will stay here,” he told Spanish sports daily Marca.

Last summer’s protracted transfer of Pogba frustrated Mourinho and Woodward and both have set a timeline on landing the deal.

Michael Carrick has signed a contact extension until 2018 while Mourinho remains keen on Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic, who is also being targeted by champions Chelsea.

Among the other targets are Torino’s Andrea Belotti – who has a big-money buy-out clause on his contract after scoring 27 goals in all competitions last season.

Other names linked to Old Trafford switches are Paris St-Germain’s Blaise Matuidi and Monaco’s Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Meanwhile, Wayne Rooney is a shock transfer target for Stoke City, according to the Sunday People.
