Mane tips Reds to finish season in style
Sadio Mane may be stuck on the sidelines but he fully expects his Liverpool teammates to secure Champions League football in the two remaining games this season.
The Reds sit third in the Premier League table, five points clear of bitter rivals Manchester United.
If they retain that place through to the end of the season, then they will be guaranteed a Champions League place next year – and with games against West Ham and Middlesbrough to come, the odds are in their favour.
Mane, signed from Southampton last summer, has arguably been Liverpool’s most important player this season, highlighted by his place in the PFA Team of the Year.
The Senegalese will not wear the red shirt until the beginning of next season because of a knee injury, and Liverpool’s form has stuttered without him – with just one win from their last three games.
But Mane is adamant Liverpool will get over the line, and secure a top-four spot.
“This league is a very hard league, but we have a great team and great players,” he said. “We are capable of beating every team in the league.
“We have two important games. We must not make big pressure for ourselves, but we can beat them.”
