Milivojevic hails heroic Eagles teammates

Luka Milivojevic paid tribute to his injured colleagues who played through the pain to secure their side’s Premier League survival at the weekend.

The 26-year-old Serbian international has played 13 times for the Eagles since making the January move from Olympiakos, helping Palace up the table and away from danger.

In that time he has scored twice, both from the penalty spot, to repay the faith shown in him by boss Sam Allardyce.

Saturday’s goal saw Palace condemn Hull to Championship football next season as the Tigers were beaten 4-0, and Milivojevic was particularly complimentary about the performances of three of his teammates.

“The whole team’s performance was perfect,” he said. “But I must say congratulations to Yohan Cabaye, James Tomkins and Andros Townsend because they played this game with injuries.

“They took the field for the team and it was great for them that together the squad got a deserved win.

“The fans were amazing, too, they sing all the time for us and it was great that in the end we were able to give them four goals, three points and we stay in the league. It is all amazing for us all.

“I felt confident before I took the penalty, I knew in my mind where I wanted to put the ball and if I shoot well I will score. In the end I scored and the team won the game, perfect!”
