Pochettino proud of Kane and Spurs after impressive end to the season
Mauricio Pochettino was proud of Tottenham’s end to the season as they finished the Premier League in second behind Chelsea.
Spurs won their final game at White Hart Lane against Manchester United last weekend and then ended the campaign with a 6-1 win away at Leicester and then a 7-1 victory at Hull on the final day.
Harry Kane scored eight goals in the final three games and ended the season with the Premier League’s Golden Boot for the second successive season, after scoring 29 in total in the league.
The only sour note to the end of the season was Hull’s goal, meaning that goalkeeper Hugo Lloris missed out of the Golden Glove award.
Pochettino said: “I’m so proud, the way we finished the season was fantastic. I’m very happy for Harry, disappointed for Hugo but I think to be second in the table, fighting all the way on 86 points, it was amazing.
“It’s not only the results but the football we played was very good and now it’s a big challenge for next season.
“Our dream and our challenge is to be better this season. Now is a moment to take to decisions, to try to improve and try to provide the team with all the tools to try to win, that’s the challenge for us.”
And Pochettino was particularly pleased with Kane winning the Golden Boot for a second successive season.
He added: “It’s amazing, unbelievable, fantastic and a big achievement for him. We are all very happy. He deserves it. He’s a great player and it’s a very good thing for him. He’s one of the best strikers in the world and I’m very happy for him.”
