Shakespeare urges Leicester City to finish on a high
Craig Shakespeare is imploring Leicester City to keep their foot on the gas after securing their Premier League safety on Saturday.
Reigning champions Leicester put any relegation worries to bed as they beat Watford 3-0 at the King Power Stadium to claim a second victory in succession.
With the Foxes now up into the top half of the table, Shakespeare, who is currently in charge until the end of the season, has challenged his players to finish in the best position possible.
“We, as a club – owners, supporters, players and staff – can be very pleased that we’ve been able to secure Premier League survival,” said Shakespeare, whose team will face Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth in their final three games of 2016-17.
“The result [against Watford] was always going to be important. There hasn’t been any points target but we want to try to finish as high as possible.
“To do that, you have to beat the opposition. We’ve done that and we’ve got three games left now – difficult games.
“I want to finish on a high, the players want to finish on a high, and I’m sure the supporters want to finish on a high too.”
