‘There’s plenty more to come from me,’ vows Manchester City’s Jesus

Gabriel Jesus says the best is yet to come from him at Manchester City, despite his fine start to life in English football.

The 20-year-old Brazilian forward was on target as Pep Guardiola’s side beat Leicester City 2-1 last weekend, scoring his second goal in four games following his return to action from a foot injury.

That took Jesus’ City record to five goals in nine appearances but the youngster, who helped Palmeiras to win the title in the Brazilian top flight last year, believes he has only scratched the surface of his potential thus far.

“I haven’t been able to deliver and to show my real technique and what I can do but I am very well physically,” said Jesus, who has netted four times in six appearances for Brazil.

“I understand the game, Pep’s vision and my position – I have been adjusting quite well.

“When I reflect and analyse my performance, I am still not playing exactly with my style that I was playing at Palmeiras and with the Brazilian national team.

“I still haven’t imposed and scored as many goals.

“But it’s helping me to think about my position on the pitch and understand better Pep’s style and my colleagues.

“I have been working hard to fit in the best way possible.”
