Burnley boss Dyche praises Keane’s professionalism

Burnley manager Sean Dyche believes praise should be given to Michael Keane for the way in which the defender dealt with constant transfer speculation last season.

Following then Premier League champions Leicester City’s failed £15milllion bid last summer, not a week seemed to pass without Keane being linked to a whole host of clubs.

He rejected a new four-year deal from Burnley and now has just 12 months remaining on his current contract , with the 24-year-old largely expected to leave Turf Moor before the start of the new campaign.

Despite this, Dyche only had positives to say about Keane’s attitude so far, as a run of impressive performances saw him nominated for the Professional Footballers’ Association player of the year award and win his first two England caps.

And after Burnley initially captured him from Manchester United for £2million in January 2015, Dyche believes Keane more than justifies his now increased price tag.

“He’s had good focus to himself and to us,” he said. “He’s worked on his own game with us and himself and taken that into the team and what the team needs.

“We were questioned when we brought him for £2million. Everyone says it’s a masterstroke now.”
