Calvert-Lewin can get even better, says Everton boss Koeman
Everton manager Ronald Koeman thinks forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin can still improve after a promising first season with the club.
The 20-year-old initially joined Everton U23s from Sheffield United last August, but was soon promoted to the senior side.
Calvert-Lewin made his debut against Arsenal in December and scored his first Premier League goal for the Toffees against Hull City three months later, two of which he spent out with an ankle injury.
But the young forward’s most impressive performance of the year came in an England shirt, when he scored the winner in the U20s World Cup final against Venezuela.
Despite impressing Koeman in his 11 Everton appearances, the Dutchman expects even more from Calvert-Lewin next season.
“He deserved to start matches last season and he is progressing well, but he needs to progress more because he is still only 20 years old,” he said.
“He’s physically strong, which makes him a little bit different than the likes of [Tom] Davies and some of our other young players.
“He can play in different positions up front, he’s really improving in his movement and finishing, and that makes him a first-team player.
“But he’s a good boy who is serious and has a phenomenal attitude, which is what we like.”
