Gibson confident Middlesbrough will get right manager
Ben Gibson admits he is as eager as the Middlesbrough faithful to learn the identity of the club’s new manager.
The defender came through the youth system with Boro and was a regular for managers Aitor Karanka and Steve Agnew during last season.
But with the Teeside club preparing for life in the Championship following relegation, there has yet to be confirmation on who will lead the club in the new season.
Gibson is currently training with England but has full confidence in Boro chairman Steve Gibson will get the best man for the job.
He said: “The players are the same as the supporters. Particularly for the likes of myself who is a fan anyway, we want to know what’s going to happen and who’ll be in charge.
“We don’t know if it’ll be Steve Agnew or any of the other names being linked, but every player will be waiting with anticipation this summer to see how it turns out.
“It is important to get it right. I haven’t a clue if it will be Aggers or someone new, that’s down to the chairman and whatever he decides I’m sure will be for the good of the football club.
“I’ve no doubt he’ll get it right. But whatever happens, as players you work for the manager – it’s not for me to say anymore than that.”
