Gilmartin and Ranegie among Watford summer departures

Watford pair Rene Gilmartin and Mathias Ranegie will leave Vicarage Road this summer after reaching the end of their contracts.

Their departures were revealed in the club’s retained player list, which confirmed that goalkeeper Gilmartin and striker Ranegie will not sign new deals with the Hornets.

Having originally enjoyed a two-year stint at Vicarage Road from 2010 to 2012, Gilmartin’s release signals the end of his second spell at the club.

Following his return in 2014, the former Ireland under-21 international featured only seven times for the club in total.

Meanwhile, striker Ranegie made all of his 10 appearances during the 2013-14 season, finding the net four times in a spell which saw him spend the past three years playing football at a host of clubs including Millwall, Chinese outfit Dalian Yifang and Djurgardens in Sweden.

However, under-23 players Andrew Eleftheriou, Brandon Mason, Connor Stevens and Carl Stewart are set to sign new contracts at the club, but fellow under-23 players Ola Adeyemo, Charlie Bannister, Ogo Obi and Rhyle Ovenden are also set for departures.

A club statement said: “Watford FC would like to wish all departing players the best of luck for the future, and thank them for their contributions while at Vicarage Road.”
