Kone set for unlikely reunion with McClean at Baggies
West Brom target Lamine Kone could be on his way to the Hawthorns but he may have to make up with one current player before he does.
Kone had something of a falling out with Baggies midfielder James McClean when Sunderland faced West Brom last April, having a dig following a 0-0 draw.
Poking some fun at former Sunderland player, Kone took aim at his performance at the Stadium of Light.
His tweet: “By the way, who is James McClean?” did not go down well with McClean who responded quick-wittedly.
He said, in reference to one big tackle: “He’s the one who put you on your backside big fella, some say you’re still laying there.
“Better point for us than them, onto that magical 40 point mark, happy out (sic) #boingboingbaggies.”
McClean was certainly right about that as Sunderland sank like a stone and finished rock bottom of the Premier League.
That was despite the best efforts of Kone, who made 32 appearances last season and is now available for around £9million according to reports.
If he does make the move, Tony Pulis may find himself playing mediator between McClean and the Ivorian centre-back.
