New signing Lindelof can star at United, says Djordjic
Victor Lindelof can be a huge success following his move to Old Trafford, according to former United winger Bojan Djordjic.
Swedish international Lindelof, 22, penned a four-year deal with the Red Devils after United agreed a £31 million deal with Portuguese champions Benfica.
Djordjic spent six years at United, between 1999 and 2005, and had spells at Rangers, Plymouth Argyle and Blackpool.
And the ex-winger, who represented Sweden at under-18 and under-21 level, has backed the young defender to slot straight into the United side.
“Swedish people and scouts lost him under the radar but he’s really proved himself worthy of this move. He’s been terrific at Benfica since he made his debut against Zenit St Petersburg at home in the 2016 Champions League.
“He can also cover as a right-back and played at right-back when Sweden won gold at the Under-21 European Championship in the Czech Republic two years ago. But, at centre-back, you’re getting someone who is confident, has good feet and is not afraid of bringing the ball out.
“He is not afraid. He is not going to be fazed as he’s played on a big stage at Benfica’s stadium, which holds a lot of spectators as well. He’s been there and done that.”
