Palace set to be priced out of Sakho move
Mamadou Sakho might have impressed on-loan at Crystal Palace this season but it appears a permanent move is unlikely for the France defender.
The centre-back had joined temporarily from parent club Liverpool, where he has endured a rocky relationship with Jurgen Klopp over the last 12 months.
Palace had been keen to bring him back to south London, but it appears that Liverpool’s asking price is going to be beyond them.
The Reds seem certain to offload Sakho, with Klopp set to bring in defensive reinforcements, but Palace chairman Steve Parish admits it will be difficult to keep the Frenchman.
“I think that is going to be a very difficult one for us to do. I think Liverpool want a big number for him,” said Parish.
“That is a tough one to make happen on a permanent basis. We need to look at the budgets and be realistic.”
Sakho played eight times for Palace last season, helping them on a four-game winning streak to ease away from relegation danger.
Liverpool are believed to be looking for £30million for the defender however, who is attracting interest from elsewhere.
Palace are still looking for a replacement for manager Sam Allardyce after his surprise resignation at the end of the season.
