Chief executive Blake claims new signings are sign of Bournemouth’s intent
Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake believes the club are making a statement of intent with three high-profile signings already this summer.
Nathan Ake became the latest new recruit for Eddie Howe’s squad on Friday joining fellow new arrivals Asmir Begovic from Chelsea and Jermain Defoe from Sunderland.
Howe led Bournemouth to a top-half finish last season, their second in the Premier League, with Ake making 12 appearances and scoring three goals for the club whilst on loan with the Cherries.
Ake was recalled by the Blues halfway through the season but returns to Vitality Stadium and Blake is thrilled to have captured the 22-year-olds signature on a long-term deal.
He said: “Nathan may have only been with us for a short time last season but he was a big part of what we achieved and made a huge impression on everyone, both on and off the pitch.
“We were determined to bring him to the club permanently and I am delighted to secure the services of a young, hungry, talented, international defender.
“Having already signed Asmir Begovic and Jermain Defoe this summer, this is another statement of our intent and another player who will help drive the club forward.”
