Clement looking for early Swansea momentum
As Swansea City players report back for the start of pre-season training, boss Paul Clement believes early momentum is key to having a good campaign.
Clement helped Swansea spark a miraculous survival bid when he took charge at the Liberty Stadium last January.
Swansea won four of their last five matches to secure top flight football for a seventh consecutive season.
And as the team prepares to do battle once again, Clement is hoping to take the momentum gathered from the end of last season into the start of the new campaign.
“The aim is to maximise that time with the staff and players through physical, technical and tactical preparation,” the former Real Madrid assistant manager said.
“We have planned a real thorough pre-season programme that includes a lot of training sessions and competitive games, both at home and in America.’’
He added: “We finished the season playing really well. Now we must look to take that momentum into the new campaign.
“There is a good squad of players here which we will be looking to strengthen as the weeks progress.
“The objective is not only to have a good season, but to have a good start to the season first.’’
