New Watford goalie bids to learn from Heurelho
Daniel Bachmann says that he’s looking to draw on the experience of new colleague Heurelho Gomes as he aims to flourish at Watford.
The 22-year-old, who was released by Stoke City at the end of last season, signed a three-year deal with Marco Silva’s Hornets on July 1.
The Austrian U21 international is expected to provide back-up to Gomes alongside Costel Pantilimon and believes that he can develop his own game by working alongside the 36-year-old Brazilian.
“Keepers like that are just brilliant to work with – not just on the pitch but off the pitch too,” said Bachmann.
“I’ve only known him for a couple of days but I can learn a lot of things from him, which is brilliant for me, and I just have to try and take everything on board.”
After joining Stoke from Austria Vienna in 2011, Bachmann played in the Potters’ U18 and U21 squads but never made a senior appearance.
His experience of first-team football has come during loan spells with Wrexham, Ross County and Bury.
After his first week as a Watford player, Bachmann says that he has enjoyed his switch to Hertfordshire thus far.
He added: “It’s brilliant to be here. I’m really excited and I’m glad everything got done quite quickly.
“I’m just pleased to be here now and it’s been a good start over the first couple of days.”
