Terriers new-boy Ince won over by club during Derby days
Tom Ince may only have become a Huddersfield Town player this week but the midfielder says it was last season when he became a fan of the club.
Ince was at Championship rivals Derby last term yet watched on impressed as David Wagner led Huddersfield into the Premier League, via the play-offs, for the first time in their history.
The 25-year-old has now joined the Terriers revolution for an undisclosed fee – believed to be £8million, rising to £11.3m.
Ince scored 38 goals in 117 appearances for Derby and, with his old club out of the Championship promotion race come the business end of the season, he admits he was rooting for Huddersfield success.
“When I knew there was interest I was excited to see where it went,” he said. “It was great to see for the neutral and great for those not fighting at the top-end of the Championship.
“Both home and away games we had with them last season, for me, were the hardest in the Championship and footballing-wise, by far the best.
“It was great to see and obviously the play-off final – even I was nervous watching – it was great to see them do it and it’s great to be part of it.
“It’s a club all about work ethic, pulling together and fighting for each other to achieve success and I want to be part of it.”
