Shakespeare happy with fitness of two key Leicester players

Leicester City manager Craig Shakespeare has moved to ease fears over the fitness of Yohan Benalouane and Andy King ahead of their Champions League quarter final on Tuesday.

Both defender Benalouane and and midfield stalwart King were substituted during the Foxes 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace over the weekend due to injury concerns.

With Robert Huth suspended for the second leg against Atletico Madrid, Benalouane’s fitness will be particularly important in stopping the likes of Antoine Griezmann and co.

Leicester City trail 1-0 heading into the second leg on Tuesday, where they will have the advantage of a vocal home crowd at the King Power Stadium.

“Unfortunately, after Saturday’s game, Yohan and Andy King came off and they didn’t take part in training yesterday but they have both trained today,” Shakespeare confirmed.

“We would have been down to the bare bones otherwise but they have both come through today’s session fine.”

Shakespeare is also sweating over the fitness of striker Islam Slimani who was unavailable for Leicester’s trip to London over the Easter weekend due to a groin injury.
