Swansea City legend Trundle urges fans to contribute to survival mission
Swansea City legend Lee Trundle has issued a rallying cry to the Liberty Stadium faithful to play their part in their side’s bid to beat the drop.
The Swans are currently two points from safety in the Premier League table and three of their remaining five games take place on home soil, starting with next Saturday’s clash with mid-table Stoke City.
Trundle, who found the net 91 times in 194 appearances for Swansea, across two separate spells, is desperate for the Jack Army to roar their team to safety.
“We don’t want to be in the position we are in and everyone at the club is feeling the same; the fans, the staff, the players,” said Trundle, who is an official club ambassador and still plays for Welsh third-tier outfit Llanelli Town at the age of 40.
“This is the most important time to stick together. Swansea City, as a football club, needs everyone pushing in the right direction.
“As a fan myself, it’s frustrating because we’ve not got the results we have wanted but we must realise how big a part we have to play in helping the club remain in the Premier League.
“This is the most important time, when the fans can help the players. I understand, as a football fan, it’s hard when you’re spending your money, travelling here and there, and results aren’t going your way.
“But we’re home on Saturday and if we’re going to get out of this, then the fans will play a massive part.
“Looking at the home games, we have three to play in the remaining five matches. If we win our games at the Liberty, then that could be enough to push us over the line.”
