Gunners’ Ozil credits mental strength for Wembley success
Mesut Ozil boasts a formidable record from the games he’s played at Wembley Stadium so far, and has put that success down to mental strength.
The Germany international has played four games at the national stadium, registering four wins and two assists, and Ozil has the chance to add to that when Arsenal take on Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday.
The fixture presents the 28-year-old with the opportunity to progress to the final and lift his third FA Cup crown, and he highlighted Arsenal’s focus and confidence as key factors.

“The secret is that we believe in ourselves,” said Ozil. “That we support each other on the pitch, that we’re mentally strong and focused to get the trophy.
“We’ve won it [the FA Cup] two times since I’ve been here, it’s my fourth year and I’ve won it twice, it would be nice to have the trophy in my hands again.
“I think it would do a lot of good for the fans too, to see us winning trophies.
“You’re always hungry for titles, we’re out of the Champions League and it will be very hard to win the title, we can only really get this one trophy and we must give everything to do it.
“I hope we can take the next step against City and get into the final, it will be difficult because they want the same – they’re desperate to win the FA Cup, just as we are.”
