We’re still in title hunt, says Tottenham’s Eriksen

Christian Eriksen believes Tottenham are still very much in the Premier League title race after battling past a resolute Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Wednesday night.

Danish playmaker Eriksen’s 25-yard piledriver with ten minutes to go was the difference between the sides as Spurs secured a 1-0 win – their eighth straight league victory.

It reduced the gap between them and leaders Chelsea once again to four points, and keeps Mauricio Pochettino’s men in touching distance of the Blues with five games left of the season.

Eriksen has scored five goals and assisted 11 in his last 12 games, and the in-form midfielder believes there is still all to play for in the race for the Premier League crown.

“We showed we’re still in it,” said Eriksen, “We have to focus on ourselves and of course Chelsea have to lose some points but this was our chance to keep going and we took it.

“This result gives us a confidence boost for the last five games. We have to keep going, focus on ourselves and see where it ends.

“It was a very tough game and we fought well, the whole team, the subs as well, everyone dug in and luckily we took the chance we had.

“After we scored, we showed a lot of maturity, showed we’re capable of keeping the ball in the corner which a few years ago maybe we wouldn’t have done. We did that and played it well. We have to do that to win things in the future.”
