Spurs’ Pochettino ready to embrace Wembley home
Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino believes his side should fully embrace their move to Wembley next season insisting it is a part of the club’s evolution.
Spurs will play their 2017-18 home games at Wembley while their new 61,000-seater stadium is being built next to their current home White Hart Lane.
Pochettino’s men have been magnificent at home this season and are unbeaten with just two matches remaining – Sunday’s north London derby against Arsenal and a clash with Manchester United on May 14.
And while Pochettino recognises the need to return to their brand new stadium as soon as possible, he believes his side should welcome the change.
“The evolution you cannot stop and now it is so exciting to go to play at Wembley next season and then to move to the new stadium but we cannot now regret about White Hart Lane,” said Pochettino.
“We feel every time that we play, it is the last game.
“Our fans are so excited, and our players too. I think that feeling, that energy, that our fans translate to the team, is amazing. And it is key, to push you and help you to give your best.
“I think the team plays exciting football. The fans are completely involved with the team, they feel very close to the team. And I think we can build that relationship, that is great for the club.”
