Johnson frustrated after Potters draw

Glen Johnson believes Stoke City were the only team trying to win on Saturday, after they were held to a goalless draw by West Ham United.

Saido Berahino and Xherdan Shaqiri both went close for the Potters, but they failed to breakdown a stubborn Hammers rearguard – although the Londoners also went close through Andre Ayew, who forced returning goalkeeper Jack Butland into a stunning save.

The result moves Stoke a step closer to survival, although they are not there yet as their poor form, which has seen them win just one of seven games, continued.

“It’s obviously a point gained but we are a bit disappointed we didn’t win the game,” said right-back Johnson.

“We were the only team trying to win it but they had a gameplan and stuck to it and made it difficult for us.

“We obviously kept a clean sheet but we looked like we were going to get the three points.

“There were times when we moved the ball well and something had good options which is when we looked at our most dangerous.

“Keeping a clean sheet as a defence is always the main thing you want to do and then hope you score some at the other end. In the worst case you take a clean sheet and move on.”
