Stones: Win highlights strength in depth
England defender John Stones highlighted the strength in depth of Manchester City’s squad after they went top of the Premier League on Saturday.
Stones was named man of the match in City’s 4-1 win over Stoke on Saturday with substitute Nolito scoring twice late on after Sergio Aguero’s double gave them an early lead.
The former Everton defender added that he had settled in quickly into life at Manchester and is now looking to develop as a player under the stewardship of new manager Pep Guardiola.
“To get the three points shows the players we’ve got. We’ve got players coming off the bench scoring goals and making a big impact,” he said.

“Everyone is working hard for the team and the unselfish set-up from Raheem (Sterling) at the end to secure the win shows that.
“I’m thoroughly enjoying my time here. I’ve settled in quite quickly because the boys have helped me do that.
“The games have come thick and fast and that’s what I’ve come here for. I want to be playing and improving as a player as much as possible.
“I’m trying to perfect my game and he’s showing me the route to go down but there’s always things I need to improve.”
