Koeman won’t allow any drop in Everton form

Everton boss Ronald Koeman insists there will be no let-up for his players in the final three games, saying he will not select anyone who is under-performing.

The Toffees travel to Swansea on Saturday, but are already guaranteed at least a seventh-place finish and have secured a spot in European football next season.

Koeman’s side could still climb higher in the table, as they currently trail Arsenal by two points, and the Dutchman is focused on a strong finish.

“We will train normally, train aggressively and prepare the team for the weekend,” he said.

“Of course, you expect the players to be motivated to play. If they are not, or if they are showing differences to normal, then I will keep them out of the team.

“We will play with a strong team this weekend. We want to win – we know it will be difficult but we need a good win, a good performance and to finish the season strongly.”

Swansea sit 11 places below Everton, but Koeman knows a desperate desire to avoid the drop will make their opponents more threatening at the weekend.

He said: “We know Swansea are a team who had a good result last week against Manchester United. They need points, they need wins to fight against relegation.

“We can expect a strong team, an aggressive team that is really focused on winning the game – that always makes it difficult.”
