Kompany keen for Manchester City to maintain high standards
Vincent Kompany has urged his Manchester City team-mates to keep up their high standards as they go in pursuit of a top-four finish.
City thrashed Crystal Palace 5-0 at the Etihad on Saturday to leapfrog Liverpool into third in the Premier League.
And the City skipper wants his side to keep the momentum going for the final three games of the season as they look to ensure Champions League football next term.
Kompany got himself on the scoresheet along with David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Otamendi.
City face Leicester and West Brom at home and then travel to Watford on the final day.
And the Belgian said: “We wanted to set this chain of home games right and it couldn’t have gone any better.
“We need to repeat the performance in the next two games at home.
“If we do that it should put us in a great position going into the final league game away at Watford.”
It was Kompany’s first goal at the Etihad since 2015 and although it was a spectacular strike he did not think it was his best for the club
“It depends if you talk about emotions. The one against Man United (in April 2012) will always be best,” Kompany added.
