Davies targets Spurs response

Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies is determined not to let Spurs’ 1-0 defeat to West Ham on Friday derail their entire season.

Spurs’ loss at the London Stadium felt a bit like déjà vu after their defeat at Chelsea at the end of last season handed Leicester City the title in what was the start of a collapse for the North London side.

And it is the Blues that Spurs are chasing now – after they missed the opportunity to pull within one point of the summit of the Premier League.

But Davies has urged his side to finish the campaign on a high, starting with their clash with Manchester United at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

“Of course we realise what this result means for our season. But we’ve given our all and now it’s about just finishing it off well,” said Davies.

“There’s similarities with the Chelsea game last season but we’ve really given it a good go this year. I think we’ve definitely matured as a team.

“The season slipped off towards the end of last year. We’re determined not to let that happen again.”
