Vokes loving life at Burnley and being part of their Premier League journey
Sam Vokes has declared his love for Burnley and his role in their Premier League fairytale.
Vokes has enjoyed a lot of success since arriving at Turf Moor in 2012, including two promotions from the Championship and now Premier League survival.
And Vokes – who first joined Burnley on loan from Wolves in 2011 – has seen the club grow on and off the pitch.
He said: “It’s been a great journey to be a part of. When I came here on loan from Wolves at the start it just felt like another loan move at the time, but then I signed permanently.
“You can see how important the club is to the locals, it’s a massive club, so to be a part of two promotions and survival has been amazing. I love it here!
“It’s the dressing room, the lads have been fantastic and I’ve got some great mates here. I’ve created some great memories.”
Vokes scored twice in Burnley’s 2-2 draw with West Brom, a point that took Burnley to the magical 40 point mark.
No team since West Ham in 2003 has been relegated from the Premier League after amassing 40 points or more.
And there is still an outside chance that the Clarets could force their way into the top 10 in the Premier League if they were to win their two remaining games away at Bournemouth and at home to West Ham .
He added: “You set the goal to stay up at the start of the season but once you’ve achieved that it’s all about where you can end up.
“We’ve got two games remaining and we won’t take our foot off the pedal, we’ll keep going for the highest place that we can.”
