Puel’s diamond still a work in progress, says Tadic
Dusan Tadic admits Southampton’s players are still adjusting to life under Claude Puel after their defeat to Manchester United on Friday evening.
The Saints went down to two Zlatan Ibrahimovic goals either side of half-time, meaning they have registered just one point from their opening two Premier League games.
But Tadic is adamant that once the squad get used to Puel’s new system – which employs a diamond formation in midfield – they will start to see results.
“This specific system, players didn’t play so much that system and then you need always to learn from that system and this needs time,” he said. “We are still learning things from that system.
“[Puel said] that we should have more courage to play and to do things together – to attack together, to defend together, and we try to follow him and to listen to him.
“We want to improve every day, to give our best and that’s it. We just want to see what is good and what is not good on this game, and try now to win the game against Sunderland. This is most important.
“It’s important to win some games, then you get extra confidence and for the rest of the season you can do better things.”
