Leicester’s Chilwell enjoyed his running battle with City star Sterling

Leicester’s Ben Chilwell says he enjoyed his duel with England winger Raheem Sterling at The Etihad.

The Foxes were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Manchester City but the left back had a personal battle with Sterling.

At times the pair seemed to be wrestling each other on the left flank but Chilwell says it was just two players giving their all for their sides.

He said: “It started quite early in the first half when we were grappling at each other and the crowd were backing him for the fouls.

“It was a good battle between two English lads that want to do well in front of the crowd. When you’re on the pitch, you give it everything.”

Chilwell was left frustrated by the result and felt that the Foxes did enough to get something from the game.

He added: “It was disappointing to go two goals down in the first half because I thought we started the game well.

“To get one back before half-time gave us massive confidence going into the second half and obviously our second-half performance speaks for itself. We were unlucky not to get a result.

“Man City knew that we would come out in the second half knowing that we’re only one goal away from a result in the second half.

“We showed everyone here that we’re a good team as well because we limited Man City to their chances. We had chances as well. We didn’t put them away in the second half but it was a good performance.”
