Robson-Kanu: Baggies powerless to stop relentless City
Hal Robson-Kanu believes nothing could have been done to stop “world class” Manchester City strolling to three points against his West Bromwich Albion side on Tuesday.
First-half goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kevin de Bruyne, as well as Yaya Toure’s low strike, saw City ease to a 3-1 win against the out-of-form Baggies.
Robson-Kanu did grab a rare goal but West Brom were outplayed at the Etihad Stadium as City moved towards securing Champions League football.
West Brom have been in freefall since March and now their top-half place is under threat ahead of the final day of the season.
The Baggies, now ninth, must secure at least a point at Swansea City or risk finishing in the bottom half.
But Robson-Kanu believes they had little chance against a terrifying City attack.
“It’s always nice to score goals but it’s nicer to win games. We set up to try and stop what is undoubtedly world class opposition,” he said.
“But unfortunately, they got two quick goals and it was an uphill battle from there. We fought until the end and showed great desire but it just wasn’t to be.”
