Gray thanks Foxes faithful after sticky season
They may have flirted with relegation before Claudio Ranieri’s departure and the introduction of Craig Shakespeare, but Leicester City winger Demarai Gray has praised their fans for sticking with them through the bad times.
The England under-21 international made 41 appearances for the Foxes this season scoring two goals, and the departing champions finished 12th following Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Bournemouth.
Such a high finish was only possible, however, thanks to a remarkable turnaround in fortunes following Shakespeare’s introduction.
Gray and his colleagues had been heading towards the Premier League trap door until that point, and the former Birmingham City man was full of praise for the King Power faithful for unwavering support.
“It’s been a tough season and they’ve stuck with us all the way,” he said. “Credit to them. We need them and we give our best for them.
“We would have liked to have finished with a win but Bournemouth came and did well.
“We had one or two chances to win the game but it didn’t go our way. But we’ve finished in an okay position and we’ll look forward to next season.
“It’s been up and down with a lot of changes. We’ve all come together and finished well. We all made that our target and now we want to build ahead of next season.”
