Adam Forshaw hungry for Premier League return with Boro
They’ve had a taste of the Premier League and now Middlesbrough’s Adam Forshaw claims the current crop of Boro players are determined to bounce back at the first opportunity.
Boro’s relegation was signed and sealed before they took to the pitch on Sunday for their final game of the season at Anfield.
Forshaw, 25, grew up as a Liverpool fan, despite being a graduate of the Everton Academy, and having experienced Anfield for the first time, he wants to get back there with Boro.
“It’s the first time I’ve played [there] and if I’m honest, it gave me a bit of a shiver – it was a great atmosphere,” said the midfielder.
“It’s a proud day for my family but I would’ve liked to have enjoyed it a bit more. I had some great memories coming here as a fan and unfortunately to be on the wrong side of a defeat is tough to take.”
His side were on the wrong side of a 3-0 beating as Jurgen Klopp’s men ensured Champions League football would return to Merseyside next season.
But for Forshaw all eyes are now on preparation’s for a promotion push when the Championship season begins in August.
“Now we’ll have our rest, reflect and come back with no hangover and a spring in our step ready to go,” he added.
“It’s disappointing to go down but I’m hungrier than ever to come back.”
